Rav4 security is unacceptable and unfit for purpose due to CAN BUS attacks

I have had my Rav4 stolen twice in just over two years, the second time with a Stop Pro Elite lock being removed by cutting through the steering wheel.

Are existing Rav4 owners aware of this security flaw? And if so, what steps are they taking to ensure the security of the vehicle. As steering wheel locks do not prevent theft, what immobilisers are recommended as I have heard ghost immobolisers cause issues with the Toyota electronics.

I posted this on the toyotaowners forum on the 14th March. Feel for you but as you probably know it’s not just Toyota RAV’s that are risk and many other brands are experiencing high volumes of cars being stolen. Not good and no comfort, but at least Toyota are going to implement a two stage approach to address the problem. Not much good to you unfortunately but I guess if some form of scum is determined they will stop at nothing.
