I get anything from over 50 mpg upto just below and on the odd occasion above 70 mpg on various journeys around 10 - 20+ miles.

My previous corolla was a 2ltr GR Sport (not the current gen) and I would get around 55/60MPG.
I'm now using a 1.8ltr Excel and not really had enough usage to get an idea of the consumption.

not specifically answering your question but hey just adding another perspective :)

My Corolla 2.0 Sports Tourer (2021} does ca. 62 miles/imperial gallon in summer. I do mainly short trips, ca. 5 miles. In autumn the consumption tends towards 61 mpg. It’s an exzellent car.
I programmed the tail gate height to stop, keeping a gap of 1/2 inch between the tail gate and the open garage door above the car.
