LCD Screen Issue??

Picked up my new 2023 corolla a week ago and have covered 300 miles.

Not sure if I have an issue or not.

On one occasion a week ago when driving the central LCD screen turned black for approximately 2 seconds and then returned to the normal display.

Today when driving the central LCD screen turned black for approximately 2 seconds along with the main instrument panel behind the steering wheel and then both screens returned to the normal display.

Today I also noticed when I move the shift lever from D to P and visa versa the central LCD screen turns black and comes back on once in P or D........... Is this function normal?

The central screen on my 2021 plate Corolla turns black/darkens when driving under trees, and returns brighter in bright sunlight, its it anti-dazzle night time screen.I have never noticed any screen change when switching off Ready condition, mainly because I have never looked.
any help???.If you drive the car in the dark the screen is a lot less bright than in daylight.
Unless its been updated If you havent driven the car in darkness be prepared for the interior lighting switches being differcult to find/use.I found it to be a right pain, until I found the sunvisor mirror vanity light was easy to find and use giving a good light over controls, slide back its cover over the mirror when finished with or a flat 12 volt battery could in time give a problem.

Hi Paul,

To answer your question i've had mine for about 4-5 weeks now and never had it where the displays will totally go off (not darken) so imo that does sound like an issue that should be investigated by the dealership.

The screen will go into dark mode/theme depending on the ambient lighting and also reduce the brightness.

Thanks for your info guys, much appreciated.

Just returned from my dealership, the car is booked in for Tuesday 31st Oct to investigate the issue. Will update this post after the dealer visit.

I'm with Kenneth on this one as if you go through a tunnel or under a bridge the blue LCD screen behind the wheel goes dim as not to add glare into your eyes. I would imagine it's also a safety feature put in by Toyota

I would typically agree but Paul is saying it goes off for a couple of seconds which is different to dimming, mine does dim etc but never goes off until I switch the car off.

My car was at the dealership all day yesterday, they were unable to replicate the issue with the multimedia screen and instrument panel going black / blank for approximately two seconds.

There were also no fault codes generated for the two instances that happened (both on a Wednesday morning one week apart) while I was driving the car.

So I have agreed to use the car and report back if the issue happens again. Not a lot else I can do at present.

Thanks Kenneth, the car drives great. Just clocked up 600 miles in two weeks and the average fuel consumption is around 50mpg. Pretty good for a 2ltr car.
